Helping children understand medicines and be safer around them
Written by Gavin Birchall & Illustrated by Isobelle Cocks
Follow along with Felix, Lyra and Bounce the dog as they learn to tell the difference between sweets and medicines.
During a daring attempt to get their hands on some sweets the trio come unstuck, narrowly avoiding disaster.
A trip to their new favourite place and the advice of their pharmacist sees them learning all about how to be safe around medicines.
We expect that children around 5 to 7 years old might enjoy this story.
Children under 5 have the highest risk of accidental poisoning*
Let's protect our little ones by helping them understand medicines and be safer around them
In 2013-2014 almost 150,000 people in the UK were admitted to hospital with poisoning and most cases happen at home. Medicines can seem miraculous and they are very useful when used as intended. Helping your little ones understand how to use them safely is a great lesson to teach.
We’ve created this book to help you do just that and share some very important ideas in a way that we hope you will all find enjoyable.
Comedy, medicines and a bit with a dog. A great combination!
At the same time your children can learn about how their pharmacist can help them live healthy lives. Pharmacists are the professional medicines experts and amazingly you can speak to one without an appointment, often very close to your home.
